Eye screening is an effective way of detecting diabetic retinopathy as soon as possible. This occurs when diabetes affects the small blood vessels in the retina of the eye which, left untreated, is one of the most common causes of blindness in the working-age population.

Let’s Talk Diabetes event takes place at Brent Civic Centre

Let’s Talk Diabetes, a free event run by the Brent Integrated Diabetes Service (BIDS), took place at the Brent Civic Centre on Thursday 15 June. The event was a collaboration of NHS, community and voluntary sector organisations, and the local council, working together to help publicise available diabetes support. Councillor Butt, leader of Brent Council, attended the event to discuss this important health issue in the borough.
