Prime Minister awards £5m for additional GP appointments

GPs in North West London, including Brent, have been awarded £5m from the Prime Minister’s Challenge Fund to support schemes to make it easier for patients to see their GP.

The money will be used to provide extended opening hours, weekend opening and better use of technology so there will be more opportunities for people to see their GPs when they feel unwell.

North West London GPs make ambitious decisions to improve care for millions

Eight Clinical Commissioning Groups of GPs and patient representatives (CCGs) have today made a set of ambitious decisions to improve health services across a quarter of London. Proposals will now be worked up in three key areas:

• A financial strategy to deliver the Shaping a healthier future reconfiguration programme;
• Exploring with NHS England a different way of financing and commissioning primary care services, and considering this with the CCGs' member practices;
• The future of Commissioning Support Services.

Report from Commissioning Intentions events now available

In January 2013, Brent CCG held a number of public engagement events to discuss and gain feedback on the draft commissioning intentions for 2014/15.

The report from that event, which includes answers to questions raised during the sessions and recommendations on the commissioning intentions, is available here
